Statement
Conflict, dreams and humor are characteristics of the drawings and paintings that will be on display at the Phoenix Gallery from February 29th through March 24th.
My art focuses on events and scenarios that have impacted the modern landscape. A body of work has been created using two techniques ; pen and ink drawings and oil on canvas paintings. The drawings represent a "before" aspect projecting an idyllic view of nature with mountains, lakes, and forest. Clothespins are the inhabitants and are seen floating, flying or fleeing from unnamed events. At times, they are also engaging in in conversation, trying to figure out "what is going on." In my paintings, the "after" aspect is represented. The ever-present clothespin inhabitants are now in a barren landscape and confronted by the realities of a post-bucolic civilization.
